During a recent interview, Tebow shared his thoughts on expressing his faith and the challenges he faced in praising Jesus. He reflected on a verse from Luke 19:40, considering why creation seems more eager to worship than humans. He mused about what it meant to be close to Jesus during the crucifixion, imagining the wooden cross He hung upon.
In the book, the tree dreams of becoming something significant—perhaps a door or a throne—after learning of a carpenter admired by many. However, its hope fades when it realizes it is meant to be a cross, which it associates with shame and punishment.
Tebow explained that while the cross is often viewed through the lens of shame, in his story, it symbolizes a transformative encounter with Jesus. The illustrations by Rommel Ruiz bring the narrative to life, adding depth to the tree’s journey.
