Students Assault Journalist During Protest
On Friday, an independent journalist was assaulted by students from Enumclaw High School in Washington State, who also threatened him with a gun.
Recent protests by students across the nation have escalated against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), particularly following the involvement of Homeland Security agents in the fatal shooting of two individuals, Alex Preti and Renee Nicole Good, in January. Journalists, identified by their social media handles such as “Conspiracookie,” “ChrisxSims,” and “DannyRebel333,” were documenting a walkout event when the incident occurred.
During the confrontation, one female student reportedly exclaimed, “If I had a gun, I’d pew pew all you motherfuckers,” to DannyRebel333. Shortly thereafter, another student struck him and confidently declared, “I said what I said.”
In additional footage, a student was seen punching DannyRebel333 and yelling at the journalists. Subsequently, he visited the emergency room for a concussion evaluation, as noted by Conspiracookie.
Police response was captured on video, showing at least two students being led away in handcuffs. Enumclaw police later confirmed that two arrests were made. One student faced charges for assault, obstruction, and resisting arrest, while the other was charged with obstruction alone.
Conspiracookie shared that adults supervising the students seemed to intervene when they spoke with the journalists. She expressed, “The ‘leaders’ of the student walkout were trying to abuse me and talk nonsense! Meanwhile, I was talking with young women and others about their thoughts on protests, immigration, and political division.” She added that she was thankful many students chose dialogue over aggression, noting the chaotic atmosphere but highlighting the efforts of some students to calm tensions during the event.
There was no immediate comment from the superintendent or the Enumclaw School District Board of Education regarding the incident.
