Cabazon Home Renovations Amid Ongoing Investigation
In Cabazon, California, the house where Emmanuel Haro was killed is currently undergoing major renovations. This move comes as the family of the boy’s father aims to help the community heal.
Anthony Scott Cosentino, the stepfather of Jake Haro, has shared plans to build a tall fence around the property to keep outsiders away. During a recent visit, the home appeared vacant, but work was ongoing, with concrete being poured for the front walkway and repairs being made to the fence.
Family members took a moment to add their names to the freshly poured cement, perhaps trying to wipe the slate clean of the tragic history tied to the house.
Emmanuel, who was only seven months old at the time, has not been found since his parents reported him missing in August 2025. Initially, the couple alleged that “Mexican” kidnappers had taken their son, but as investigations progressed, suspicions grew around Jake Harro, who has a prior history of abuse against his daughter from a previous relationship.
Prosecutors have charged both Jake and Rebecca Haro with murder, accusing them of torturing and ultimately killing Emmanuel in their isolated home, roughly 20 miles west of Palm Springs. Jake was arrested later in October 2025 and received a sentence of 25 years to life in prison, while Rebecca is still awaiting her trial, with her next court date scheduled for March.
Cosentino mentioned how the family has faced severe scrutiny. Even one relative lost a job due to their association with the Haros. Interestingly, Google Maps now features their former home labeled “Justice for Emmanuel Rd,” indicating the widespread online support during the search for the child.
After Emmanuel went missing, his parents made emotional pleas to the media, but authorities noted inconsistencies in their accounts. Just a week later, they were arrested.
Jake had been on probation due to a previous conviction for abuse that left his other daughter permanently disabled. Despite this tragic backstory, he received probation and counseling instead of jail time.
Rebecca continues to cling to the narrative of a kidnapping. Even from her cell, she expressed her determination to find her son, stating, “I want to go out and look for my baby… I’m not going to give up.” Just after her claim, Jake was seen aiding the search for Emmanuel’s body.
The investigation took a surprising turn when authorities reportedly tricked Jake into admitting to the child’s murder, using a fake inmate to elicit information from him.
Notably, Rebecca’s own family has a troubling history. Her brother was convicted of murder in 2017 for a violent crime involving his girlfriend.
As the community grapples with this dark chapter, former neighbors have secured their homes with heightened measures, such as locks and cameras. A sign near the Haro property currently warns against trespassing, signaling the lingering tension that shadows the neighborhood.
Cosentino expressed frustration with the media and public attention, indicating that misinformation has only complicated their situation. He remarked on the challenges posed by misguided commentary and speculation.
