Elana Myers Taylor Wins Olympic Gold in Monobob
Elana Myers Taylor has achieved her long-held dream of becoming an Olympic gold medalist. On Monday, she clinched the top spot in the women’s monobob competition at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games, marking a significant milestone in her career.
With a time of 59.51 seconds for her final run, Myers Taylor edged out her teammate Kylie Humphries. The two anxiously awaited the finish of Germany’s Laura Nolte, who crossed the line just fractions of a second behind them, finishing second.
Myers-Taylor’s total time was 3:57.93, while Nolte came in at 3:57.97, and Humphries secured the bronze medal with a time of 3:58.05.
This win is particularly notable as it’s Myers-Taylor’s first gold medal, elevating her to the status of one of the most decorated female Winter Olympians in U.S. history, tying with Bonnie Blair at six total medals.
Having come close in previous Olympics—harvesting silver medals in both the monobob at the 2022 Beijing Games and in the two-person bobsled in 2014 and 2018—she can now relish the title of Olympic gold medalist. Meanwhile, Humphries adds this silver to her collection, having previously won gold at the Beijing Olympics.
The achievements of Team USA in this year’s Winter Games have not always been straightforward, but with more medals on the board, the team is in a strong position as the competition enters its final week.
