WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham Discusses Los Angeles

WNBA player Sophie Cunningham recently shared her opinions about Los Angeles in a social media video. While playing for the Indiana Fever, she expressed her less-than-enthusiastic feelings about the city, attributing much of her disappointment to the people she encountered during her time there.

“I’ll try not to judge too harshly,” she stated in the video. “I realize some people thrive in various areas. But Los Angeles? I don’t think it’s for me.” Cunningham went on to describe her observations about interactions in the city, saying, “It’s strange. People don’t dance, they won’t greet you. It feels like there’s a lack of personality.” She added, “They all look similar, which is just odd. Surely, I can’t be the only one who thinks this?”

She continued, expressing admiration for the unique individuals she sees on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. “I love how some influencers have crafted a space to express themselves,” she mentioned. “Yet, if you can’t engage with someone face-to-face, isn’t that a bit peculiar? Maybe I’m just overthinking it. I know I’m a bit different, but it seems like many prefer talking to their phones instead of each other.”

Cunningham wrapped up her thoughts with a piece of advice for those navigating celebrity and social media realms: “Try talking to someone directly. And really see yourself.”

As she prepares for the upcoming 2026 WNBA season, the league is currently amid a challenging labor negotiation period, which adds another layer of complexity to her professional journey.
