Vince Offer Shlomi, Known as “Shamwow Guy,” Runs for Texas Legislature
Vince Offer Shlomi, widely recognized as the “Shamwow Guy,” has announced his candidacy for the Texas state legislature as an anti-establishment Republican, pledging to “clean up the swamp.” If he secures a seat, he aims to combat what he terms “wokeism,” stating on his campaign site that “this woke mess will not cleanse itself.”
In a recent campaign advertisement, the 61-year-old Shlomi criticized 84-year-old incumbent Republican Rep. John Carter, suggesting he has “worse cognitive abilities than Biden,” and sarcastically noted, “Vote for me who’s not half dead.”
Shlomi claims that support from former President Donald Trump favors Carter’s re-election, arguing that Carter would better align with Trump in Congress. He described Carter’s extended tenure as a kind of elder abuse and indicated that Carter may no longer be suitable for office.
“He’s not a fighter,” Shlomi remarked, adding, “He’s not old, but he’s incompetent, and President Trump doesn’t see that.”
Concerns Over Political Climate
After spending years in media, Shlomi decided to transition into politics, citing a perceived “decline of civilization.” He expressed concern about people not facing reality or contemplating deeper issues, saying, “They’re kind of scared, they’re walking on eggshells.” He believes it’s time for a stronger fight based on common-sense American values.
“I want to restore sanity to America,” he declared.
Positioning himself as an outsider within the Republican establishment, Shlomi feels he’s already being targeted. He suspects that “someone” in the party removed his popular nickname from the ballot to lessen his recognition, something that usually doesn’t happen unless it involves brand names.
“I think they’re trying to fool voters who don’t know who I am,” he stated, describing the situation as a “quagmire” he plans to tackle in Congress.
Shlomi characterized his campaign as an “uphill battle,” but he views it as part of a “higher purpose.” He expressed a desire to clean up corruption, criticizing societal values and calling out public figures who prioritize profit over standing up for the youth and women.
Regarding his ballot situation, Texas Republican Party Chairman Abraham George noted that the National Republican Congressional Committee had challenged the use of “Shamwow”. After reviewing Texas Election Code, it was determined that the challenge was valid, leading to the removal of that nickname from Shlomi’s ballot.
Carter’s office has not yet replied to inquiries for comment.
