Jeff Teague Responds to Ron Harper’s Comments on LeBron James
Jeff Teague is not a fan of the recent comments made by Ron Harper about LeBron James during the NBA All-Star Weekend.
Teague, who has spent a decade in the NBA, discussed Harper’s remarks on the “club 520 podcast.” Harper suggested that LeBron was pressuring his sons, Bronny and Bryce, to pursue basketball like he did.
In response, Teague shared his thoughts, saying, “The last guys we had to hoop were Bronny and Bryce. They might just be chilling if they want to. Who knows, they could simply enjoy basketball.” He expressed a strong sentiment, saying, “I can’t wait for LeBron to experience something similar to what I did. It seems unfair for big brothers to act as if their siblings don’t want to play. Today, I’m standing by LeBron, just saying.” He added, “Everyone knows I always fouled him…”
“Respectfully to Ron Harper, he’s a legend, but come on. ‘Take Bron out of it.’ Seriously, take Bron out of it.” Teague’s concern centers around Harper’s comments made when asked about his hopes for his own sons, Dylan and Ron Jr., to join the All-Star festivities.
Harper stated, “I’m not LeBron James; I won’t dictate my kids’ paths.” This came after his sons visibly reacted with surprise to his comments.
Teague went on to elaborate, feeling that Harper’s remarks lacked insight. “They didn’t want to play basketball because he was acting a bit over the top,” he quipped. “Today, I find myself defending LeBron.” He concluded with a note about the ongoing journeys of Bronny and Bryce, both of whom have been involved in basketball from a young age. Bronny will be joining USC and eventually play for the Lakers, while Bryce is currently navigating his freshman year at the University of Arizona.
Though the James family has yet to respond to Harper’s remarks, it’s clear that Harper’s children were taken aback, showing their stunned reactions during the conversation.
