Sports Highlights from the Milan-Cortina Olympics

Turning point – Ilia Marin faced a tough day in the free skate, struggling through multiple mistakes and two falls, which sadly pushed her down to eighth place. While the Americans secured first place that day, Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidlov ultimately clinched the gold medal.

Realizing dreams – American Elana Myers-Taylor achieved a lifelong goal by winning gold in the women’s monobob at the Milan-Cortina Olympics. She narrowly beat Germany’s Laura Nolte by four-hundredths of a second, while her teammate Kylie Humphries brought home the bronze.

Inch game – Amber Glenn started off strong but stumbled on a key point in her short program due to an error. The emotional toll was evident as the three-time U.S. champion stepped off the ice, seeing her medal aspirations fade away.

Mountain Magic – Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher earned silver medals in the Olympic team sprint, bringing Team USA its third medal in cross-country skiing. They finished just under two seconds behind Norway’s duo of Johannes Hosfrot Klaibo and Einar Hedegard.

Gold Glory – Mikaela Shiffrin captured the Olympic gold in the women’s slalom on Wednesday, continuing her comeback from a disappointing run in Beijing four years prior. She secured the title as the last two competitors fell short.

Silver lining – Irene Gu aimed to repeat her success as the Olympic Big Air Champion but faltered on her second run, settling for the silver. Despite narrowly missing gold to Canada’s Megan Oldham, this brought Gu’s Olympic medal count to five across two Games.

Dual identity – In a recent appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom labeled Irene Gu a “traitor” for competing for China. He highlighted, though, that Gu’s decision came from a place of honoring her mother’s Chinese heritage amidst serious allegations of human rights abuses in China.

From Fox Sports – After facing a hard foul, Mick Cronin benched his center Stephen Jamerson II to avoid further escalating tensions, marking another challenging game for UCLA.

From an Outkick report – The Miami Dolphins are restructuring their roster, planning to part ways with star wide receiver Tyreek Hill and edge rusher Bradley Chubb, according to league sources.

Watch now – Tyler Reddick reflects on his Daytona 500 victory in a conversation with FOX Sports’ Danny Perkins, Greg Jennings, and Willie Colon.
