Cruel traveler taken into custody for abandoning 2-year-old dog at airport to catch flight

Traveler Arrested for Abandoning Puppy at Airport

A traveler has been apprehended after allegedly leaving a 2-year-old puppy at the ticket counter of Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. This occurred when the individual learned she couldn’t board her flight with the Goldendoodle without proper service dog documentation.

The incident took place around midnight on February 2, when the woman rushed into the airport for luggage check-in. After being informed that her dog could not travel without specific paperwork, she reportedly tied the pup’s leash at the JetBlue counter and proceeded to the departure gate.

Video footage released by the police shows the woman walking away from the counter, not even casting a glance back at her confused dog.

When airport staff discovered the abandoned puppy, they quickly provided the attention and affection it needed. According to the video, the dog fell to the ground and affectionately licked an employee’s arm.

Authorities located the woman at Gate D1. When approached, she reacted defensively.

“I’m tired, so I’m going to throw my stuff away,” she responded angrily.

In reply, an officer said, “No, we’re taking you back to your dog because you left it at the ticket office.”

The woman claimed she was in the process of changing her flight reservation.

The officer challenged her, asking, “So you’re walking here to rebook your flight and leaving your dog behind?”

Trying to pass off the responsibility, she insisted that the airport staff had instructed her to leave the dog there.

Despite her attempts to deflect blame, the officers saw through her excuses.

“How could you leave your dog here?” one officer scoffed.

Interestingly, the woman suggested that she was unconcerned about abandoning her pet, indicating a tracking device would ensure its return.

While being escorted through security, the traveler reportedly became aggressive and resisted the officers.

The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was charged with animal abandonment and resisting arrest, according to LVMPD.

The puppy, who has been affectionately renamed “Jet Blue,” found a temporary home with Las Vegas Retriever Rescue. After ten days in animal custody, it appears that the owner made no efforts to reclaim the puppy.

Police assured that Jet Blue would soon be placed in a loving forever home to start a new chapter in life.
