Forlesia Cook supports Trump at the White House event for Black History Month

A grandmother from Washington, D.C., who lost her grandson to gun violence passionately defended President Donald Trump during a Black History Month celebration at the White House.

Foresia Cook’s grandson, Marty William McMillan Jr., was tragically murdered in 2017 at the age of 22. Since that heartbreaking event, Cook has spoken out publicly, even testifying before Congress about his death.

When invited by President Trump to share her thoughts at the event, she seized the opportunity to stand by him, urging his critics to “get off this guy’s back.” She expressed her love for Trump, stating, “I don’t want to hear anything you say about racism.” Cook made it clear that she hoped others wouldn’t judge her for supporting him, emphasizing the need for representation.

Her impassioned voice grew stronger as she continued, declaring, “Get off the man’s back. Let him do his job. He’s doing the right thing. Stay away from him.” She concluded with a personal touch: “And that’s what grandma said.”

The audience responded with applause and cheers, and President Trump seemed to appreciate her words, playfully suggesting she consider a political run, asking for her support if she did.

Cook also expressed gratitude to Trump for calling the National Guard to the capital and praised his tough-on-crime approach. “One of the things I love about him is that he’s so authentic. He’s like his grandma,” she added, highlighting her trust in his leadership.

The event was part of the annual Black History Month celebration, during which Trump also paid tribute to the late Rev. Jesse Jackson, calling him a “true hero” and recognizing his contributions and unique character.

In a final announcement, Trump stated he would award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to former HUD Secretary Ben Carson.
