Trump Proposes National Garden of American Heroes in D.C.
In a post shared on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump has revealed plans for a National Garden of American Heroes, set to be located in West Potomac Park, Washington, D.C.
Trump expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am proud to announce the location of the National Garden of American Heroes. This magnificent display of statues will be installed in West Potomac Park as we transform it into one of the most beautiful public spaces in the world.”
He pointed out that the area, which he describes as currently being a “completely wasteland,” will be transformed into a stunning public masterpiece featuring beautiful landscaping and elegant statues. “It’s part of my effort to make Washington, D.C., the safest and most beautiful capital in the world,” he added.
The garden will showcase a variety of American Hero statues, representing notable figures including Founding Fathers, military heroes, religious leaders, civil rights advocates, and renowned athletes and entertainers. “This will be a place for both Americans and visitors from around the world to learn and be inspired by the Greats,” Trump noted. He also framed the project as a celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.
Additionally, some Republican senators have suggested adding a statue of Charlie Kirk to the garden. The announcement included an aerial view of the designated site in West Potomac Park.
This initiative is part of Trump’s larger ambition to enhance legacy infrastructure in the nation’s capital. While the renovation of the White House ballroom has garnered significant attention, Trump is pursuing other major projects as well.
As part of the preparations for America’s 250th anniversary, Trump is also working on improvements to the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial, addressing structural leaks and adding a blue liner to enhance visibility. He stated that this project would incur costs of less than $2 million, emphasizing its importance to the country.
Furthermore, Trump is looking for congressional approval for an “Arch of Triumph” to be erected at Arlington National Cemetery. White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt indicated that the arch would stand 250 feet tall, surpassing the height of any building in Washington, D.C.
