Authorities looking into the violent incident involving transgender shooter Robert Dorgan at an ice hockey arena have confiscated a sawed-off shotgun, an AR-15-style rifle, and various ammunition from his residence and storage unit, as reported recently.
During a search on Wednesday, FBI agents, state police, and local law enforcement also discovered identification documents, electronic devices, and weapon accessories. Various firearms, including an AR-15 style weapon and a handgun frame, were located at Dorgan’s storage facility in Brunswick.
Meanwhile, police retrieved mail addressed to him from that same storage unit.
At his home in Bath, Maine, officials found more electronic equipment, documents, and additional ammunition, although the specific types of devices have not yet been disclosed.
The firearms and ammunition are being sent to a crime lab in Rhode Island for analysis.
In addition, Dorgan’s workplace locker was searched, but there were no significant findings there.
Surveillance footage after the shooting at Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket was reviewed, and items found in a white van with a Maine license plate led investigators to his address and storage unit.
This raid occurred just two days after Dorgan, armed with a Glock 29 and a Sig Sauer P226, killed his ex-wife, Rhonda, and their adult son, Aidan, before taking his own life.
Dorgan’s daughter, Amanda Wallace-Hubbard, recounted her fear during the incident, stating, “I turned around and Rob was looking me in the eyes and I really felt like we were next.” She believes he was driven by a vendetta against his family.
After opening fire, Dorgan was confronted by Michael Black, who attempted to disarm him. Black shared, “I just grabbed it and went to get the gun, and they grabbed my hand,” detailing his struggle to prevent further gunfire.
In the troubling aftermath, more about Dorgan’s personality has emerged. Rhonda had filed for divorce in 2020, initially citing issues linked to his gender transition and personality traits, but later revised the reason to “irreconcilable differences.”
Destiny McKenzie, a former colleague, noted Dorgan’s tendency towards anger, occasionally resulting in heated arguments.
Tragically, Rhonda’s parents and a family friend, Thomas Gelso, are currently in critical condition.
