See Alysa Liu perform in free skate without charge

This afternoon, the final figure skating medals for the 2026 Winter Olympics will be awarded following the women’s free skate event.

The top 24 competitors from the women’s short program will move on to the free skate today. Each skater’s routine will last four minutes and is expected to feature up to seven jumps, one axel, three spins, a step sequence, and a choreographed sequence.

The performance of the U.S. women’s figure skating team, known as the Blade Angels, was a mix of highs and lows. Amber Glenn, the reigning U.S. champion, successfully executed a triple axel but faltered on a triple loop, settling for a double, which earned her no points for that element. By the end of the short program, she found herself in 13th place, while Isabeau Levit stood in 8th.

However, Alyssa Liu secured a spot in third place, potentially setting her up to break a 20-year drought for U.S. women’s singles medals since Sasha Cohen’s silver in 2006. Leading the standings are Japan’s Ami Nakai and Kaori Sakamoto, who will skate her final Olympic performance today.
