Sara Gonzales: Sharia law is already banned — so it's time to prohibit halal meat

Texas Politicians Seek to Ban Islamic Law

In Texas, some politicians are pushing for a ban on Islamic law, with a notable emphasis from Sarah Gonzalez, a host on Blaze TV. She argues that such actions are unnecessary, citing that Islamic practices are already illegal in the U.S.

“Sharia is already against the law. Its governing principles are not compatible with U.S. law. You can’t execute someone for theft, nor can you stone someone for infidelity,” Gonzalez explained. “Those practices just don’t align with our values here.” She continued, emphasizing that actions like executing someone for being gay, or killing those perceived as infidels, are unacceptable in the U.S.

Moving on, Gonzalez shared her “personal goal” to make Texas an unwelcoming place for Muslims, stating, “It’s just how things are here.” She mentioned her belief that tackling what she terms the “Islamic takeover” hinges on halal meat regulations.

“In the Quran, we have directives around what is halal and haram. Halal is what is permissible. Haram is not permissible,” she elaborated. Most Muslims are supposed to consume halal food, and certain meats like pork are classified as haram.

Gonzalez detailed the requirements for meat to be considered halal—emphasizing that the slaughterer must be Muslim and perform specific prayers during the animal’s slaughter. “In the U.S., we usually stun animals before slaughter for humane reasons. However, that may not fit Islamic practices,” she noted.

“So, if you really care about preventing what you call an Islamic invasion, just ban halal meat,” she concluded. That, she believes, would send a clear message.
