Wisconsin college student Alexandra Blattner tragically passes away in a ski accident at a resort, the second death in just a month.

Tragic Skiing Accident Claims Life of Wisconsin College Student

This month, a 20-year-old college student lost her life in a skiing accident at Rib Mountain, Wisconsin. This incident marked the second death at the resort within two weeks.

On February 5th, Alexandra “Allie” Blatner reportedly collided with a tree at Granite Peak Ski Resort. Local sources have confirmed this.

Authorities found her deceased, and she had suffered a broken neck, as noted by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.

A Neenah local and sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Blatner’s obituary mentioned she “died painlessly and instantly.”

“Alexandra Jean Blatner was doing her best to enjoy life when she tragically passed away in a skiing accident,” her obituary said.

The university’s president shared the news of her passing with the campus community the following day, expressing that he had gotten to know her shortly after she enrolled last summer.

“Aly is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life,” Manohar Singh stated. He described their strong relationship during his tenure as a new administrator.

According to her obituary, Blatner was studying pre-nursing and psychology.

She was an active member of the Student Government Senate and served as the Vice President of Recruiting for the Tri Sigma Social Club.

“Allie lit up every room she entered. She thrived on being around others,” her obituary reflected. “She wouldn’t leave until everyone was smiling and laughing. She lived her short life filled with energy and joy.”

“We are all so fortunate to have Allie as our sister. She made a significant impact on our lives and the entire campus community,” stated Tori Deptula, president of her sorority chapter.

This was the second fatal incident at Granite Peak in less than a month. On January 11, a 30-year-old man named Matthew Czolkosz lost control and also crashed into a tree, hitting his head with such force that his helmet shattered. Sadly, despite attempts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.

The sheriff’s office has indicated that both incidents are considered accidents.

Authorities have been contacted for additional information regarding these tragic events.
