Jasmine Crockett Calls Out Liberals on Race Issues

Texas Rep. Claims Attacks from Liberals Have Racial Undertones

At a campaign event on Thursday, Representative Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, suggested that the criticisms she has faced from some liberals are racially charged.

Crockett, along with fellow Texas Democrat Rep. James Talarico, is currently neck-and-neck in the Democratic Senate primary, based on recent polling data. Speaking in Richardson, Texas, she highlighted her agenda, particularly her “entitlements,” but then pivoted to assert that the attacks against her stem from her identity as a Black woman.

“It’s unusual for me to be targeted from the left, which adds a new dynamic to the situation,” Crockett remarked. “As a civil rights lawyer, I’ve encountered various tactics, including skin-blackening advertisements, but I understand the underlying motives. It’s important to note—I woke up as a Black woman; that’s an undeniable part of my identity. Yet, my campaign isn’t solely centered on my race; it’s about my beliefs and credentials.”

Some in the liberal camp believe Crockett will continue to attract diverse voters across Texas. In a podcast hosted by former “Saturday Night Live” star Bowen Yang, Talarico endorsed and financially outpaced Crockett in the primary race.

Crockett gained attention as a key House Democrat after her heated exchange with former Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene during a House Oversight Committee hearing in May 2024. During that encounter, she made headlines for using strong language and a controversial remark about Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who is disabled and utilizes a wheelchair.

Additionally, Crockett made unverified accusations against EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin during a November debate concerning a bill related to releasing information about Jeffrey Epstein.

In a recent discussion on “The Breakfast Club,” she made a striking comparison, equating the work of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to that of historical “slave patrols.”
