Trump Considers Military Action Against Iran
President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he is “considering” a limited military strike against Iran to push its leadership toward a nuclear deal.
During a breakfast with governors at the White House, when asked by reporters about the possibility of a military strike, he confirmed, “I can tell you, we are considering it.”
On Thursday, Trump implied that the opportunity for a positive outcome might be closing, remarking, “There’s nothing left in Iran.” He suggested that it might take longer than “10, 15 days, about the longest” to finalize an agreement.
“Either we reach a deal or it’s going to be bad for them,” he added.
These remarks came as the United States increased its military presence in the area, deploying the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford and its strike group. Meanwhile, the USS Abraham Lincoln and three guided missile destroyers arrived in the Middle East over two weeks ago.
U.S. Central Command shared a photo of an F/A-18 Super Hornet landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea.
Following these developments, Russia urged Iran and other regional parties to exercise caution. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the importance of finding a diplomatic solution, saying, “As Russia continues to develop its relations with Iran, we call on Iran’s friends and all parties in the region to exercise restraint and vigilance.”
