Trial on Social Media’s Impact on Children

During a recent episode of “The View,” guest host Savannah Chrisley shared her experiences with receiving “harassment messages” online. The co-hosts responded by advising her to disregard such feedback altogether.

This conversation coincided with a significant trial involving major tech companies, including Meta, where CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified about claims that his platform could be harmful to children. This landmark case might potentially lead to substantial financial implications for the company and set a new precedent for social media accountability.

The co-hosts expressed their agreement that large tech firms like Meta should bear responsibility for these issues.

Joy Behar remarked on her own obsession with her phone, while co-host Sarah Haines mentioned a recent comment from Alyssa Farrar Griffin that highlighted the need to discuss adult usage alongside concerns about children.

“Definitely,” said Chrisley, who leans more conservative compared to her fellow hosts. “Even as someone who’s worked in television, the number of hateful messages I’ve received lately—like, ‘You fat MAGA supporter’—is staggering.”

Behar quickly interjected, urging her not to pay attention to those comments. “Why do you read it?” she asked.

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, saying, “I can’t read comments like that!”

Chrisley mentioned that if receiving such negativity at nearly 30 years old affects her, one can only imagine the impact it has on younger audiences.

“Please, don’t read it,” Behar cautioned again, while Chrisley seemed a bit bewildered but maintained a light-hearted demeanor as the audience laughed.

In a moment of levity, Behar jokingly asked if Chrisley had a reading addiction, to which Chrisley replied, “What’s the next topic?” prompting laughter all around.
