Paul Allen’s Estate Moves to Sell the Seahawks

This week, the Seattle Seahawks made headlines after it was revealed that the estate of Paul Allen, managed by his sister Jody Allen, initiated discussions to sell the franchise. This decision aligns with Allen’s wishes and comes just under two weeks following the Seahawks’ triumph over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, securing the team’s second Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The Super Bowl is set to return to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2026 after a decade away. Events are planned across downtown San Francisco and at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, which is about 60 miles from the city. Michael Irvin, a Hall of Fame football player, criticized Super Bowl LX, calling it the “worst ever” and pointing to severe logistical challenges.

“I literally couldn’t go anywhere on the streets,” he remarked, highlighting the frustrating traffic that made navigating the city nearly impossible. Irvin expressed concerns that future Super Bowls shouldn’t take place in San Francisco.

“This was a hell of a Super Bowl,” he continued. “They should never, ever bring the Super Bowl back to San Francisco. The vibe just wasn’t there; it was pretty dull.”

Irvin has attended several glamorous pre-game events before but felt that the host city did not create a festive atmosphere. “People were just like, ‘Oh,’ and the buildings looked sort of ‘meh.’ Once I got to the event, it was okay, but I expected more,” he shared in a video on his blog. “You think with all the technology here, there’d be more excitement, but it all felt kind of flat.”

He postponed his comments until after the game, not wanting to disrupt the Super Bowl spirit. However, his disappointment was clear: “Damn! I think this is the worst Super Bowl I’ve ever been to.”

On the flip side, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and running back Christian McCaffrey had a different outlook on the city. They found San Francisco rich in character and charm. Purdy mentioned, “It’s gorgeous here, with amazing food and experiences, not to mention the Golden Gate Bridge.” McCaffrey echoed those sentiments, expressing how energized he felt seeing the city alive with excitement.

Looking ahead, the next Super Bowl will happen in Los Angeles, with Atlanta set to host in 2028.
