Team USA Wins Bronze in Women’s Bobsled at Milan-Cortina Olympics

On Saturday, Team USA secured a bronze medal during the women’s bobsled finals at the Milan-Cortina Olympics. This latest achievement came shortly after Kylie Armbruster-Humphries had already claimed a medal in the women’s monobob event earlier in the week.

In this particular race, Armbruster-Humphries teamed up with Jasmine Jones, and together they finished third with a time of 3:49.21. Their performance was notable, particularly during Heat 1. Six American athletes took part in the competition, and the duo’s success solidified their position on the podium. Not to mention, Humphries arrived at this Olympics already a three-time gold medalist.

Germany claimed both the gold and silver medals in this event.

Results from Other Competitors

In addition to Armbruster-Humphries and Jones, other American athletes included two-time Olympian Keisha Love and newcomer Azaria Hill. They finished fifth, clocking in at 3:49.71. Meanwhile, Jadyn O’Brien and Elana Myers-Taylor came in seventh. Unfortunately, Myers-Taylor and O’Brien had a less favorable second heat, sliding off course and dropping to 12th place, which allowed them to advance to the finals.

Despite the setback, Myers-Taylor remains a standout in Olympic history, being recognized as the most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympic events. She is tied with Bonnie Blair for the most medals won by an American woman at the Winter Olympics.

Bobsleigh is a long-standing event at the Winter Olympics, featuring competitions for two-woman, two-man, and four-man teams. The women’s monobob was introduced in 2022 and continues to attract attention, with sleds reaching impressive speeds of up to 93 miles per hour.
