Prince William acknowledges he is not feeling 'calm' at the BAFTA film awards

Prince William’s BAFTA Appearance Amid Family Turmoil

Prince William recently acknowledged that he wasn’t exactly in a “peaceful state” while attending the BAFTAs. Walking the red carpet with Duchess Kate at London’s Royal Festival Hall, this marked his first public engagement following the arrest of his uncle, Prince Andrew.

When questioned about whether he had seen “Hamnet,” the crown prince, who is also BAFTA’s president, admitted he required a “calm mood” for that. “I need to be pretty calm, and I’m not at the moment. I’m going to save it,” he remarked.

Interestingly, Kate had managed to watch a Shakespearean film the previous night, which left her in tears. She shared her thoughts, saying, “I actually thought it was a bad idea. It gave me a really swollen eye,” describing the film as “an expression of intergenerational grief.”

The couple mentioned they still have a long list of films to catch up on. Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales attended a rugby match between England and Ireland, an event marking Prince Andrew’s first public appearance since his arrest. He had been released from custody just hours after being taken in on February 19, suspected of misconduct in public office.

Andrew faced intense scrutiny over his past ties to Jeffrey Epstein, who died under controversial circumstances in 2019. Emails released by the Department of Justice reveal that Andrew had shared reports with Epstein shortly after receiving them.

King Charles III expressed “deep concern” regarding his brother’s situation. He emphasized that a thorough and fair investigation would take place. “Let me be clear: the law should move in that direction,” he said, also noting that it would be inappropriate for him to comment further as the process unfolds. The king and his family continue their commitments to public service amid these challenges.

Interestingly, the government is contemplating removing Andrew from the line of succession. Historically, Edward VIII was the last royal family member to be taken out of the succession line after his abdication in 1936.
