Activists display notorious photo of ex-Prince Andrew following his arrest at the Louvre, surprising visitors

Controversial Photo of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on Display

A widely-known photograph featuring Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after his unexpected arrest is now showcased in one of the busiest museums globally.

The former prince was taken from his residence at Sandringham by British police last Thursday due to suspicions of misconduct in public office.

He endured several hours of questioning before being released later that evening, coincidentally on his 66th birthday. An unflattering image showing the late Queen’s son trying to hide from the media has gained attention in a prominent publication.

This particular photo has found its way to the Louvre Museum.

A video circulating online depicts activists affixing a framed version of the photo to a wall near the entrance of a gallery on Sunday.

Underneath, a title card proclaimed, “He’s sweating now.”

This brief caption, which first appeared in British tabloid The Sun, alludes to an interview where Andrew claimed he couldn’t sweat due to a medical issue.

A post on Instagram by the campaign group Everyone Hates Elon states, “They said, ‘Hang it in the Louvre.’ So we did it.”

A representative from the group explained their intentions in a statement.

“By placing this iconic arrest photo in the Louvre, we aimed to illustrate how Prince Andrew will be remembered,” they remarked to GB News.

“I hope this marks the beginning. Justice for all Epstein survivors.”

While the exact timing of the installation is unclear, it potentially attracted thousands of viewers, as the Louvre sees up to 30,000 visitors daily.

The photograph reportedly remained on display for just 15 minutes before staff intervened.

The inquiry surrounding Andrew pertains to his conduct as the UK’s special envoy for trade and investment, a position he held for nearly a decade.

This role aimed to promote UK industry and interests both domestically and internationally.

Faced with scrutiny, the former royal left the country in 2011 due to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, although he has firmly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

Authorities confirmed that Andrew was released from custody as investigations continue.

A spokesperson disclosed: “On Thursday, a man in his 60s from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.” They added, “The arrested man has now been released pending investigation.” The search in Norfolk has also concluded.
