Sandro Castro Critiques Cuba’s Crises in Unusual Video

Sandro Castro, the grandson of Fidel Castro, stirred reactions by posting a provocative video on Sunday that highlights Cuba’s growing refuse problem and ongoing fuel shortages.

Known for being one of the more “eccentric” members of the Castro family, Sandro is aiming to gain attention on social media with his unconventional videos. Recently, he has been vocal about the state of the country, although his commentary doesn’t fully condemn the communist regime that his grandfather helped establish. In a video from earlier this month, he mentioned wanting to enjoy a “Cuba Libre,” which translates to “free Cuba.”

The Castro regime has maintained power for over 67 years, largely reliant on support from allies like Russia and Venezuela, who provided essential resources that offset the societal collapse brought on by years of communist governance.

However, the ruling party currently faces complications, having suddenly lost access to Venezuelan oil, which was exchanged for political backing. Since January 3, no oil has been shipped from Venezuela since Nicolás Maduro and his wife were arrested by the U.S. The Venezuelan government is now in talks with the U.S. to revive its battered oil operations, while Cuba has also seen a halt in oil deliveries from Mexico since early January.

In late January, former President Trump designated the Castro regime as a national security threat to the U.S., citing its history of supporting terrorism and oppressing dissent. He stressed that the U.S. would not tolerate the regime’s actions.

Trump additionally shared his thoughts on Truth Social, saying that no oil or resources were reaching Cuba, urging the country to negotiate before it was too late.

Reports indicate that fuel shortages have exacerbated garbage collection issues in Cuba, a problem that predates Trump’s pressures on the regime. The government appears unable to address the ongoing crisis effectively.

In his latest social media video, Castro appears to interact humorously with inanimate objects, referring to them as women. He starts by expressing excitement about meeting a “girl” that turns out to be a garbage can, jokingly questioning its size and fitness.

His strange antics continue as he approaches a traffic light and whimsically yells about finally “going for it,” using a Cuban slang term for intimacy. He then jokingly instructs the signalman to “remove” his “underwear” before mockingly performing a sexual gesture against the post.

The absurdity escalates as Castro finds himself at a gas station, holding a fuel nozzle, making suggestive remarks and expressing frustration at the lack of fuel—commenting on how long he’s been waiting and jokingly lamenting about being stuck in a mess that even his Brazilian friends can’t fix.

This video marks the second social media piece Sandro Castro has uploaded in February concerning Cuba’s fuel crisis. Earlier, he had shared another clip, lamenting blackouts while humorously engaging with a half-full fuel can as if it were a romantic partner. He “offers” it beer, takes it out on a “dinner,” and even proposes to it, lamenting that he never wants to be apart.
