C-SPAN states that the caller 'John Barron' was not President Trump.

C-SPAN has recently dismissed online rumors suggesting that a caller who criticized the Supreme Court during a live broadcast of “Washington Journal” was actually former President Donald Trump himself.

The network clarified, “The individual who identified as ‘John Barron’ during the call is not the president,” in response to speculation surrounding the name. They noted that the call originated from a number in central Virginia, coinciding with Trump’s public meeting with governors at the White House.

Speculation ramped up after the caller expressed frustration over what he termed the Supreme Court’s “terrible decision” to overturn several of Trump’s tariffs. He also made some pointed remarks about politicians like Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, mimicking Trump’s style.

C-SPAN host Greta Browner identified the caller as a Republican from Virginia. Following the broadcast, many social media users speculated about the caller’s identity, with some suggesting Trump might have somehow staged the call or even recorded it beforehand.

Online reactions varied, with some commentators dismissing the idea that Trump was behind the call, calling it a “prank,” while others suspected the voice might have been artificially generated. This renewed interest around the name “John Barron” — a pseudonym Trump reportedly used in the 1980s to speak to the media as his own spokesperson — only added fuel to the fire.

The network concluded by inviting viewers to watch for the actual president during the upcoming State of the Union address.
