Transgender Substitute Teacher Fired Amid Controversy

A substitute teacher, who identifies as transgender and nonbinary, has been let go from Mildred B. Poole Elementary School in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, following complaints from parents regarding their provocative attire and behavior around young students. Reports indicate that the employee had been working at the school since early 2023.

Parents expressed concern after observing the teacher, who used a female name, wearing “BDSM-style” clothing, such as dog collars and animal tails. In class, the teacher encouraged students to refer to them by various online personas, including names like “Roxanne,” “Roxy,” and “Captain Roxy.”

U.S. Army Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that the teacher was dismissed from their position. This follows several complaints made by parents as early as early 2025 regarding the teacher’s attire and the appropriateness of their behavior.

According to complaints, the teacher reportedly instructed children to call them by the name of an online wolf character and even howled during class. Parents described how one child came home frightened, stating, “Mommy, I’m scared they’re going to come and eat me.” Concerns were also raised about the teacher’s vehicle, which had phrases like “WEREBEAST HUNTRESS” displayed on it.

Liberty Counsel, the legal group involved, noted that the teacher’s actions constituted harassment and were inappropriate for a school setting. They emphasized that the incidents were “unacceptable” and raised alarming questions about student safety, particularly regarding bathroom supervision.

In light of these issues, the letter from Liberty Counsel demanded immediate suspension of the teacher pending further investigation. Mildred B. Poole Elementary School has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding the situation.
