Progressive Caller Urges Democrats to Remove Members Who Favor Illegal Immigrants Over Citizens

Discussion on Democratic Values and National Pride

During a recent video call on “Morning Conference with Mark Halperin,” a participant identified as somewhat liberal shared his desire for Democrats to eliminate members who don’t prioritize Americans. He referenced President Trump’s State of the Union address where Trump asked Congress to stand in agreement that the main duty of the government is to protect American citizens, rather than illegal immigrants. The caller was disappointed that Democrats chose to stay seated during this moment.

The participant expressed that it’s vital for politicians to indicate whether they “like” or “love” America and to prioritize its people. He identified himself as leaning towards liberalism but emphasized a centrist approach. “I think every country should demand that from their leaders,” he said, adding that there are essential questions that should be addressed by politicians. He acknowledged that many Democrats truly love the country but raised concerns over some progressive representatives, questioning their motivations.

In the wake of Trump’s comments, Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib faced criticism for not standing with those who supported Trump’s message about protecting Americans. Trump expressed disappointment, suggesting Democrats were hindering deportations. This exchange highlighted a broader tension as many Democrats also remained seated during a speech in March 2025 that supported families of victims killed by illegal immigrants during Biden’s presidency.

On another platform, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo commented that figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seem to express disdain for America. He voiced skepticism about their love for the country, suggesting their actions imply a greater dislike. Cuomo acknowledged that this perspective might be seen as harsh, yet he felt their own statements contributed to the perception.

Supporting this narrative, CNN Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten noted that pride in American identity among Democrats has significantly declined, dropping from 83% in 2013 to just 31% by the end of 2025, as per PPRI research. This shift raises questions about the current climate of Democratic pride and what it means for the party moving forward.
