FBI Agents Search Home of Nancy Guthrie in Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz. – On Wednesday, federal prosecutors were spotted at Nancy Guthrie’s residence, assisting the FBI with what has been described as “routine legal proceedings,” as stated by the Arizona U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The agents were at her home for a number of hours on Wednesday afternoon, and multiple vehicles were seen coming and going during that time. Drone footage captured agents entering and leaving the home, as well as roaming around the backyard.
This activity coincided with a recent announcement by Savannah Guthrie, who shared via Instagram that her family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the location of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. Additionally, the family plans to contribute $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
“Today marks the 24th day since our mother was taken from her bed in the dark of night. Every hour, every minute, every second since then has been extremely painful,” Savannah expressed in her video. “We still have hope, we believe in miracles. As my sister might say, we’re trying to keep hope alive.”
However, she also recognized in her message that there exists a possibility her mother may no longer be alive. “She could be gone, or she might be with the Lord, possibly dancing with our family who have passed,” she said.
According to sources close to the family, there were discussions about initially increasing the reward, but law enforcement advised against it, suggesting that doing so too quickly could complicate the investigation. Former FBI agent Jason Pack commented that the new $1 million reward could significantly impact the current investigation, creating psychological pressure on any potential accomplices to come forward.
“There’s a level of instability with ransom schemes, and as time goes on, the economic advantages of keeping someone decreases, which might push someone to act,” he noted. Furthermore, the announcement may even exacerbate tensions among individuals involved, potentially leading to breakthroughs in the case.
Since Savannah’s video, the FBI has seen an increase in tips, reportedly more than 750, revealing public interest and concern for the situation. Investigators continue their search for clues regarding Nancy’s disappearance, especially after a doorbell camera recorded a masked figure at her front door before she vanished.
Despite the ongoing efforts, there are currently no identified suspects or persons of interest in the case.
As the investigation unfolds, the hope within the family remains intertwined with the challenges of the situation. They’re pressing on, searching for answers while navigating their sorrow and uncertainty.
