S.Ted Cruz Backs Steve Toth in Congressional Primary

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has thrown his support behind Texas Representative Steve Toth as he challenges incumbent Congressman Dan Crenshaw in the Republican primary for the 2nd Congressional District of Texas.

Cruz stated on X, “I’m proud to endorse Congressman @SteveTothTX for Texas’ 2nd Congressional District. Steve has faithfully represented Texans in the Texas House and has stood up for essential Texas values like freedom, limited government, and the Constitution.” He added that Toth is dedicated to issues like school choice and fiscal responsibility, emphasizing the need for assertive leadership in Washington that will advocate for Texans consistently.

Cruz remarked, “Steve possesses the experience, courage, and conviction to make a difference. I’m honored to back his campaign and urge the voters in Texas’ 2nd Congressional District to support Steve Toth for Congress.”

While President Donald Trump has not endorsed Toth for this election, he had previously supported him during the 2022 and 2024 Texas House races.

In a message on Truth Social in 2024, Trump praised Toth as an outstanding representative for Texas’ 15th Congressional District, highlighting his background as a small business owner and ordained minister. Trump expressed full support for Toth’s commitment to secure elections and bolster the economy.

The deadline for early voting in the Texas primary on March 3 is fast approaching, with the last day set for Friday, according to the Texas Secretary of State.

Crenshaw has served in Congress since early 2019 and faces a significant challenge as the primary approaches.
