Max Scherzer’s Daughter Achieves Her Wish

Max Scherzer’s 8-year-old daughter, Brooke, has gotten what she hoped for.

On Thursday, news surfaced that the seasoned right-hander had signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Blue Jays. Shortly after, his wife, Erica, posted a letter from Brooke to the team. In it, she expressed her desire for her father to return after Toronto’s loss to the Dodgers in the World Series.

“Dear Blue Jays, I’m so disappointed that you didn’t win the World Series. I hope you win next time,” Brooke wrote, as shared on Instagram.

She continued, “I hope my dad comes back to the team. Our whole family loves spending time with him in Toronto. We loved the aquarium, the CN Tower, and of course the stadium. We look forward to coming back next season. We love you, Max Scherzer’s daughter.”

Even though they lost in Game 7, Erica noted that last season had a significant impact on their family.

“Back in December, Brooke wrote this letter and asked me to mail it to the Blue Jays. Looks like my wish came true! ☺️,” Erica mentioned in her post.

“Last season had a great impact on our entire family, and we couldn’t be more excited to be back in Toronto!! Season 19 begins! 💙”

The three-time Cy Young Award winner will be back in Toronto after the Blue Jays fell 5-4 in 11 innings against the Dodgers during Game 7 of the 2025 World Series.

Scherzer, now 41, had a postseason record of 1-0 with a 3.77 ERA over three starts last year. He pitched 85 innings overall, finishing with a 5.19 ERA.

The Blue Jays and Scherzer maintained communication during the offseason. Director John Schneider commented, “We’ve known him for a while, but when you meet a guy with that kind of talent and character, you want to take the time to get to know them. We know him.” He added, “He still helps us win games. Everybody appreciates and I appreciate all the other things he does.”

Scherzer is an eight-time MLB All-Star and has won World Series championships with the Nationals in 2019 and the Rangers in 2023.
