New Prayer App Inspires Christians to Set Aside Time for Weekday Prayers

New Prayer App Aims to Help Christians Stay Connected Between Sundays

For weekly churchgoers, Sunday morning prayers often transform into a cherished ritual. It’s a time to prioritize faith, sing songs of worship, and gain insights from sermons in the company of loved ones. Yet, as Monday dawns, the motivation can start to wane, and the week feels like a slow leak from a tire.

Ajit Joseph has referred to this experience as “the six days between Sundays.” To address this challenge, he developed a prayer app to support Christians in finding daily strength and hope amid their routines.

The ThyWord Prayer app launched on Ash Wednesday. When users engage in vocal prayers, they can access relevant Bible verses that offer comfort and peace based on their circumstances. Regardless of what one faces, the Bible serves as a tool for personal prayer or intercession on behalf of someone else.

“My grandmother prayed every day of her life,” Joseph recounted. “She emphasized that at least one family member should connect with God daily. That lesson stayed with me through various life changes, but I struggled to practice it, especially while juggling a busy career and four kids. ThyWord became my solution.”

Joseph believes it’s common for Christians to feel uplifted during weekends but then lose that sense of connection come Monday.

A public opinion poll indicated that only 38 percent of Christians pray regularly, compared to 52 percent of those from other faiths. Many view prayer as complicated, yet it’s fundamentally part of our relationship with God—usable anytime, from driving to gardening to unwinding at home. After all, He’s always there to listen.

“We feel spiritually connected in church, but once the new week starts, the daily grind quickly pulls us away,” Joseph noted.

The app was inspired by Joseph’s personal struggles. According to the website, it’s designed to be nondenominational, making it suitable for individual use or as a resource for entire church communities aiming to encourage consistent prayer habits.
