Denise Richards Ordered to Pay Spousal Support to Aaron Phypers

Denise Richards’ estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, recently had his request for temporary spousal support approved in court.

Reflecting on this court decision, Richards mentioned, “My ex-girlfriend ordered me to pay $5,000 a month and $30,000 for attorney fees.” It’s clear this outcome has significant implications for her finances.

Judge Nicole Vershon emphasized that the hefty amount pertains solely to the divorce proceedings—not to Phypers’ criminal defense.

The 53-year-old Phypers faces serious legal issues, including four felony charges related to harming a spouse and attempting to dissuade a witness, charges he denies. The total amount of the $30,000 will be disbursed in three payments, with the first installment of $10,000 due by the end of March.

As for that $5,000 monthly support, it breaks down into several categories. Phypers will allocate $2,000 for rent, $1,000 for car expenses, another $1,000 for groceries, and the remaining as miscellaneous costs.

During the hearing, Phypers shared that he currently “has $200 to his name,” adding that while the support “certainly helps,” he’s focusing on managing one day at a time.

Richards, 55, expressed her distress over the recent ruling, taking to Twitter to voice her concerns about affording such payments. She noted that she was “barely able to pay” her bills, emphasizing that she had shouldered responsibilities during their marriage from 2018 until 2025.

Her attorney, Mark Gross, pointed out the substantial expenses involving her 14-year-old daughter, Eloise, who has a rare chromosomal condition leading to developmental delays. Gross argued that Richards should not be required to support someone she has been granted a permanent restraining order against.

While Fipers’ defense attorney acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, they reminded everyone that Phypers has not been convicted of any crime yet.

The former couple ended their relationship last summer, and Richards described the past year as one filled with challenging reflections, making a poignant statement on Instagram about finding clarity amidst the pain.

Richards’ divorce from Phypers marks her second, following her previous marriage to Charlie Sheen, with whom she shares daughters Sami and Lola. Phypers, on the other hand, was previously married to actress Nicolette Sheridan.
