Susie Wiles' lawyer refutes agreeing to FBI phone call recording, according to a report.

Legal representatives for Susie Wiles, who served as President Donald Trump’s chief of staff in 2023, are contesting accusations that she allowed the FBI to record phone conversations with clients during the Biden administration, reportedly without her awareness.

An anonymous attorney expressed disbelief, stating, “If I pulled a stunt like that, I wouldn’t be a licensed attorney. I shouldn’t be,” emphasizing their surprise alongside Wiles. This refutation arises as the FBI faces scrutiny over its subpoena practices and investigative techniques, particularly regarding Special Counsel Jack Smith’s inquiry into Trump’s actions.

Initially reported by Reuters, it came to light that the FBI had issued subpoenas for phone records from 2022 and 2023 concerning both Wiles and current FBI Director Kash Patel, who, like Wiles, were not in government positions at that time. Smith’s investigation centers on allegations of Trump trying to overturn the 2020 election as well as his management of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

In light of these events, reports indicate that at least ten FBI personnel were dismissed over the matter. Two FBI officials claimed that calls between Wiles and her lawyer were recorded in 2023; while Wiles’ attorney knew about it, Wiles herself was not informed, leading to confusion. However, the unnamed attorney firmly denied authorizing any recordings, stating this was a misunderstanding.

Wiles reportedly suspects that the FBI, under the Biden administration, may have been dishonest regarding the situation, which adds further tension to the unfolding narrative.

Fox News Digital sought comments from both the White House and Wiles but received no immediate responses, also attempting to reach out to the FBI for input.

The situation has ignited a wave of support from conservatives and Trump followers for Wiles’ attorney, questioning the legitimacy of the case. Chris Lacivita, Trump’s 2024 co-campaign manager, expressed his belief in the attorney’s integrity, portraying the situation as a violation of fundamental constitutional rights and calling for accountability.

Outkick founder Clay Travis added to the dialogue, highlighting the implications of the FBI’s actions by stating that they had been spying on Trump’s campaign manager during the lead-up to the 2024 election.

Wiles, reportedly taken aback by the news of the subpoena, told colleagues she was “shocked.” Patel echoed her sentiment, labeling the actions of the former FBI leadership as deeply troubling, accusing them of employing dubious justifications to clandestinely obtain phone records, while evading scrutiny.
