Roommate Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Food
A couple from California experienced a shocking ordeal when they discovered their roommate had been caught on surveillance video spraying their food with poison.
Timothy Bradbury, 42, was taken into custody by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department on February 24, as confirmed by the authorities.
Billy Sonhopper and her husband, David, revealed to ABC7 that they viewed security footage showing Bradbury spraying not only the food but also various kitchen utensils.
“He was spraying our groceries, our fruits and vegetables, even the coffee pot every morning, all our chips, cereal, and everything in the pantry,” Billy stated, visibly unsettled.
The video captured Bradbury wearing a blue hoodie and a gas mask, using a blue bottle to spray the kitchen.
David recalled that their concerns started during a recent visit to the emergency room, where doctors informed him that blood tests indicated potential poisoning.
This prompted them to review the security footage installed by their landlord.
“In addition to the other odd things he’s done this past year, the video showed him spraying something. We weren’t sure if it was rat poison or something else,” David mentioned.
The couple shared that they had a tumultuous history with their roommate, who, according to them, previously attempted to set their house on fire and damaged their clothing.
Having previously contacted the police without much evidence, they felt relief once the surveillance footage provided clarity.
“Living with him over the past year has been nothing short of a nightmare,” said David after Bradbury’s arrest. “We’ve been so worried about our health and just wanted the stress to end.”
“We don’t want to live in fear anymore. It’s exhausting. We just want to feel safe,” added Billy.
When officers arrived at their residence on the day of the arrest, Bradbury refused to come out. His family informed deputies that he was struggling with a mental disorder, prompting assistance from a psychiatric evaluation team.
Approximately two hours later, Bradbury willingly exited the home. Police later executed a search warrant and collected physical evidence.
He was ultimately charged with knowingly poisoning food and beverages with the intent to cause harm.
