LaTroy Lewis Fired from Atlanta Falcons Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
LaTroy Lewis’ stint with the Atlanta Falcons lasted under a month before he was let go on Friday due to allegations of sexual assault.
These allegations date back to an event in December 2024 when he was part of the coaching staff at Michigan. The Falcons issued a statement acknowledging the allegations against him and noted that they are currently gathering more information.
“We are aware of the allegations regarding LaTroy Lewis. We are in the process of gathering information and will refrain from further comment at this time,” the Falcons stated.
Michigan State spokesperson Paul Corliss expressed serious concern about the charges. Meanwhile, Lewis’ attorney, Fabiola A. Garguera, announced that Lewis intends to vigorously contest the “false allegations,” with strong support from his family.
Attempts by Fox News Digital to reach Lewis for comment were unsuccessful.
Lewis had been a graduate assistant at Michigan in 2022 and was subsequently promoted to assistant defensive line coach for the following two seasons. A spokesperson for the Ann Arbor Police Department indicated that they are actively investigating an allegation of sexual assault reportedly occurring on December 5, 2024. Lewis is identified as the suspect in this matter.
Karen Traszkowski, representing the woman who accused Lewis, mentioned that her client filed a report with Ann Arbor police and sought a protective order against him. Traszkowski described how the two met via a dating app in July 2024 and that Lewis’s behavior escalated into aggressive communication. The first meeting occurred in December 2024 where the woman claims Lewis assaulted her.
In a related incident, police in Milford, Michigan, responded to a 911 call regarding a verbal altercation involving Lewis and his accuser, who both insisted that the episode was not physical.
Traszkowski noted that the woman identified Lewis as an assistant defensive line coach and had been reluctant to discuss the alleged abuse with police at that time.
Fox News Digital acquired a police report and protective order concerning Lewis. Notably, Lewis worked under former Michigan coaches Sherone Moore and Jim Harbaugh. Moore was terminated in December following accusations of inappropriate behavior and facing multiple criminal charges.
According to Traszkowski, her client had shared details of the incident with Moore, but he reportedly failed to report it and instead sent her explicit messages. Moore’s attorney has denied these allegations, asserting that Moore never overlooked misconduct.
Corliss stated that the university is investigating the circumstances around Moore’s termination while urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Lewis began his football career playing linebacker at Tennessee before signing with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He also had brief tenures with the Texans and Titans, later coaching at Toledo last season.
