Repeat Offender Charged with Killing Uber Eats Driver Using His Van

A woman has been charged with the grim murder of an Uber Eats driver in Chicago, and she has a substantial criminal background.

The accused, identified as 33-year-old Montoya Perry, has prior convictions that include forgery, gun possession, burglary, and fleeing from law enforcement, as per reports from CWB Chicago.

ABC7 noted that Perry was “on pretrial release for another incident from two weeks prior.”

The tragic event unfolded around 2 a.m. when the victim, Danielle Figueroa, parked her minivan outside Loretto Hospital to go inside to give birth.

Perry, along with two accomplices, allegedly entered the vehicle, and she took control. Security footage shows Figueroa running towards the car as the situation escalated.

As he grabbed the passenger door handle, Perry accelerated, causing Figueroa to fall, leading to him being struck by the rear tire, according to police reports.

This resulted in a fatal head injury for him. Perry had been arrested a fortnight earlier for driving with a suspended license and evading police.

After the hearing, Figueroa’s mother expressed, “I just don’t want this to happen to any other family. He’s 28 years old. I won’t let his memory fade, and I love you wherever you are, Daniel. I hope the justice system ensures he gets the justice he deserves.”

Eventually, Chicago police located Perry in the minivan, where she allegedly admitted to witnessing the victim approaching.

She faces charges of aggravated assault and murder during a vehicle hijacking and has been ordered to remain in custody until her trial.

Initial food deliveries intended for Figueroa were to be received by a doctor at the hospital, but the situation turned suspicious as they lacked updated information.

“They then went outside and found Mr. Figueroa lying in a pool of blood. He died shortly thereafter,” the report indicated, adding that authorities are still pursuing the other two individuals involved.

According to CWB Chicago, after the initial incident, Perry posted on social media, “It’s absurd what I have to endure to get home, but I made it. If your car is missing, come take it! We don’t want it!”

A GoFundMe page was created to assist the victim’s girlfriend and child with funeral expenses and unpaid bills, as reported by Fox 32.
