Kamala Harris Opposes Regime Change in Iran

Kamala Harris has aligned herself with other progressive Democrats by expressing her disapproval of regime change in Iran.

She voiced her criticism of Operation Epic Fury and President Trump shortly after the military action began on Saturday. Harris characterized the conflict as “a war that the American people do not want.”

Israeli officials noted that her comments came while Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and several high-ranking officials were present in his stronghold, alongside over 40 top Iranian security and regime members.

“Let me be clear: I oppose regime change wars in Iran, and our military is at risk because of the war President Trump has chosen,” Harris stated in a post on X.

Harris called the situation a “dangerous and unnecessary gamble with American lives,” suggesting it threatens both regional stability and the U.S.’s reputation globally. She continued, “What we are witnessing is not strength. It is recklessness disguised as resolve.”

While recognizing the threat Iran poses, she asserted that “it should never be allowed to have nuclear weapons,” yet criticized the current military strategy as ineffective.

Harris also took issue with statements Trump made during his campaign, claiming that he would “end wars, not start them,” and suggesting he misled the public about the status of Iran’s nuclear program.

She warned of possible American casualties in the conflict, emphasizing that the military deserves a leader who approaches decisions on war and peace with care and discipline, as outlined in the Constitution. “Congress must approve military action,” she reminded.

Harris wrapped up her remarks by labeling Saturday’s actions as “unwise, unjust, and not supported by the American people.”

She urged Congress to use its power to prevent the escalation of the conflict, insisting that “our military, our allies, and the American people deserve nothing less.”

Criticism of Harris quickly erupted on social media, with some questioning her leadership. One user mockingly replied, “Thank you, Kamala! We love you! Sincerely, Mullahs,” while another suggested, “If you can get your writing together, I’ll consider listening.”

Another critic implied that Harris often overlooks the true desires of the American public, stating, “When the polls are released next week, you will again be completely surprised at how unpopular your position is.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom, also a Democrat, faced backlash on Saturday for criticizing Trump’s actions regarding Iran, referring to the airstrike as an “illegal and dangerous war.” He emphasized that while the Iranian regime shouldn’t possess nuclear weapons, it wasn’t right for the president to engage in unjustifiable military action.

His comments triggered skepticism from those examining his potential candidacy for the 2028 presidential election. One user questioned Newsom’s contradictory stance: “Choose your stance. If you want to run for president, you should get used to making bold statements about your positions.”

Conversely, another defended Trump’s actions, asserting the president had constitutional authority to authorize military strikes and suggesting others read the Constitution for clarity.

This military operation followed weeks of stalled negotiations with Iran concerning its nuclear program.
