SAN FRANCISCO — LeBron James, in his 23rd NBA season, is experiencing a new moment.
This time, he shared the court with his 11-year-old daughter, Zuri, before the Lakers’ matchup against the Warriors.
Zuri mimicked her father’s moves, showcasing her skills during her pre-game dribbling routine. Impressively, she made a backward, over-the-head shot from the free-throw line and then lobbed the ball to LeBron, who dunked it with both hands.
This was more than just a fun pre-game moment; it marked the Lakers’ first win after a string of three losses.
“She’s a good luck charm,” James commented about his daughter, highlighting just how special her presence is for him. Austin Reeves chimed in during the postgame media session, joking that Zuri might travel to Denver for the Lakers’ next game against the Nuggets.
“Don’t say that too loudly,” James laughed, knowing Zuri might just ask, “Dad, can we go to Denver?” She has already been eager, asking, “When’s your next road trip?”
The two spent quality time in San Francisco, with James taking her to visit Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge before a dinner out. It’s clear he values these moments, saying, “I really miss spending time with my kids because of my career.”
He reflected on how meaningful it is when he can spend one-on-one time with them, adding that it’s always special, regardless of what they’re doing.
Interestingly, while Zuri showed impressive basketball skills, James soon revealed she’s actually focused on volleyball. “Don’t make my wife mad. She’s done with this basketball,” he shared, mentioning that Zuri has been playing volleyball for some time and has developed good coordination. “But my wife doesn’t want her to go down the basketball path,” he added, emphasizing family dynamics with respect to sports.
