Man Charged in Shooting at Super Bowl 2024 Parade Expected to Be Released

Charges Dropped in Fatal Super Bowl Parade Shooting

The individual believed to be responsible for the shooting death of Lisa Lopez-Galván during the 2024 Super Bowl parade has had second-degree murder charges dropped and is anticipated to be released soon.

As reported, shots rang out near Kansas City’s historic Union Station, coinciding with the conclusion of a celebration that attracted around a million attendees. Lisa López Galván, a local radio host, tragically lost her life while enjoying the event with her family.

According to reports, Dominick Miller appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court, where prosecutors dropped the charges against him. Prosecutors stated that evidence suggests he did not fire the initial shot and that it could not be confirmed that his shots led to the victim’s death.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office clarified that, under Missouri’s self-defense laws, it must be established that the defendant was the initial aggressor or acted outside the bounds of lawful self-defense to negate the justification for his actions.

David Wiegert, Miller’s attorney, expressed relief over his client’s imminent release, noting that Miller had been detained for over two years and faced serious health challenges following gunshot wounds from the incident. Wiegert also voiced concerns regarding the initial murder charge.

Miller did, however, plead guilty to lesser weapons charges as part of a plea agreement reached on the same day.
