Welcoming a new baby is often one of the most significant moments for parents. For Luka Doncic of the Lakers, the birth of his second daughter Olivia in December certainly stands out—though not for the reasons one might hope.
Reports indicate that on December 6, 2025, police were summoned to Kranj Maternity Hospital in Slovenia due to a disagreement between Doncic and his then-fiancée Anamaria Goltes following Olivia’s birth.
Doncic had received permission from the Lakers to travel back to Slovenia for this significant event. However, the joy was short-lived as tensions erupted during discussions about their first daughter, Gabriela, and Doncic’s desire to bring her back to the U.S. with him when he returned to his team.
This altercation escalated, prompting police intervention. It appears Doncic left the hospital without incident but was later questioned at home. Meanwhile, Goltes provided her account of the situation at the hospital.
According to a police report reviewed by ESPN, officers found no evidence of criminal activity related to Doncic during their investigation.
In a later development reported by TMZ, Goltes has filed a lawsuit seeking child support and attorney fees from Doncic, who recently signed a substantial three-year, $165 million contract extension.
Doncic expressed his commitment to his daughters, saying, “While I love my daughters more than anything and have done everything I can to be with them in the U.S. during the season, that simply wasn’t possible. We recently made the difficult decision to end our engagement. Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness, and I will always fight to give them the best life possible.”
