Ric Flair Shares Health Struggles Amid Social Media Drama with Son

Pro wrestling icon Ric Flair has opened up about facing “health issues” after a public outburst regarding a dispute with his son, David.

The two-time WWE Hall of Famer made his frustration known through a series of three social media posts, which have since been taken down. These posts focused on what he saw as the improper use of his trademarked name.

In a statement made on Friday, Ric emphasized his understanding of trademark laws, mentioning that he has a lawyer who charges $1,000 an hour for such matters. This lawyer specializes in cases involving trademark misuse.

Speaking on Saturday, Ric clarified that he did not intend to pursue legal action against his son. He used his remarks to highlight a lesson: “you can’t have the best of both worlds.”

The controversy seems to revolve around Green Flare Recycling, located in Shelby, North Carolina, where David is listed as part of the management team. Although Ric didn’t refer to the business directly, he urged his son to use either his real name or his wife’s name and to refrain from selling any of the robes he had used during his WCW career.

“You are 47 years old,” Ric pointed out. “Now stand on your own two feet.”

Recently, Flair publicly acknowledged his ongoing health struggles and expressed regret over the situation escalating. “If you understand my current health issues, you will understand why I get so frustrated when I live with so many people,” he wrote, apologizing for any frustration caused. He mentioned focusing on his health and shared a concerning screenshot showing an elevated heart rate, recorded at 98 BPM.

It’s worth noting that Flair faced near-fatal health complications in 2017, having spent time in a medically induced coma due to multiple organ failure.

David Flair had a stint in WCW from 1998 to 2001, the same period when his father was also involved with the company. He married Robin Haskell in 2006 and they have two children together.

It appears the relationship between Ric and David has soured significantly, as Ric indicated that previous efforts to mend their relationship had failed long ago. He mentioned feeling “rejected,” partly attributing this to what he described as his son’s wife managing their life choices.

Ric Flair has been officially retired from wrestling since his last match in July 2022, and his appearances on television have decreased since joining AEW in 2023. His daughter, Charlotte Flair, is a celebrated 14-time World Champion in WWE.
