A mother from Florida, sporting a heart tattoo on her face, was seemingly cheerful after allegedly shooting her sister during a dispute. Strangely, neither of the women disclosed details about the incident when questioned by police.
Magdalena Dybkowska, a 34-year-old who has three children, was smiling as she was booked into the Broward County Jail on charges related to attempted murder for allegedly shooting her sister in North Lauderdale early Monday morning.
Interestingly, her left cheek features a red heart tattoo, and she has the number 777 inked on her neck, above an electrocardiogram design.
As per the arrest report, the sister’s boyfriend mentioned that the two had been arguing in the house, and he had attempted to intervene while they were outside on a couch. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office noted in their report that “during the argument, the defendant took out a firearm, the exact type of which is unknown, and reportedly shot the victim in the shoulder from close range.”
Just before 4 a.m. that Monday, a neighbor heard what sounded like a woman screaming, followed by a noise resembling a gunshot.
Witnesses claimed that after the altercation, the woman “slammed the front door” and then drove away, leaving a bloody backpack behind.
Responding officers were directed to the sisters’ home, and Dybkowska answered the door, where they found “stains of blood on the floor.” She was hesitant to comply, resisting officers before eventually being handcuffed.
While officers were at her home, Dybkowska’s kids were discovered unharmed. They pointed out bloodstains on a couch in the backyard.
Later on, her sister arrived at HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital with a gunshot wound. The sisters’ mother was not present during the incident but informed detectives that her injured daughter had called from the hospital, claiming that Dybkowska shot her during their argument.
What actually triggered their quarrel remains unclear. Both sisters have declined to provide statements to the police regarding the events that transpired.
The children of Dybkowska have since been placed under the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families. Dybkowska, originally from Poland, has resided in Broward County for 18 years and is currently being held on charges of attempted murder and resisting arrest.
