Gwen Stefani’s Journey Back to Faith
Gwen Stefani, the famed singer, shares a unique story about her spiritual awakening. Although she was raised in a Catholic family, she moved away from the church over time. A surprising prayer from her son, however, reignited her connection with God.
Recently, she had a conversation with Jeff Cavins, who is affiliated with a Christian meditation app called halo, discussing her rediscovered faith.
Stefani recounted a moment that resonated deeply with her: “God, please let my mother have a baby.” This phrase marked a pivotal point in her life.
A Change of Heart
She revealed that around 12 years ago, her perspective shifted after speaking with someone who had converted to Judaism, despite having no religious background in Israel. This conversation opened her eyes to the teachings of the Torah at a time when she felt a profound sense of despair, longing for another child. “I really could have done it. But I couldn’t,” she expressed.
Her thoughts were further complicated when she explained to her eight-year-old son why getting a younger brother wasn’t feasible. “I’m sorry, mom is getting old,” she told him. In response, he unexpectedly prayed, “Please God, please let my mother have the baby.” She was taken aback; she never taught him to pray like that.
Unexpected News
Much to her surprise, she learned she was pregnant just four weeks later. “I got pregnant with Apollo naturally at the age of 44. It was just the perfect gift and that was the first miracle,” she noted.
In her conversation, Cavins remarked on how individuals can choose to run away from or toward God, acknowledging that Stefani had always been taught the latter.
The 56-year-old singer also shared that she feels closest to God when engaging in music. “Honestly, it’s because I’m so desperate for Him. I just want God to use me. I just want people to see His light through me,” she explained, revealing the depth of her connection to her craft.
Daily Rituals
During the pandemic lockdown, Stefani discovered the Hallow app and became captivated by the concept of daily prayer. She expressed concern that the app might someday be inaccessible.
Currently, she is collaborating with the app on initiatives like the “40 Day Lenten Prayer Challenge,” encouraging users to pray daily until Easter.
