Gwen Stefani recently shared that she found her way back to Christianity in her mid-40s after experiencing what she described as a “miraculous” pregnancy at 44. This was sparked by her longing for another son.
“I was pretty desperate at that point,” Stefani recounted during her appearance on the show Sacred: Prayer and Meditation. “I really wanted another baby, but I thought, you know, I’m getting older.”
The No Doubt frontwoman explained that a conversation with an anonymous person shifted her perspective and deepened her faith.
“It really woke me up,” she said, reflecting on that moment.
“My oldest son, Kingston, came up to me and said, ‘Mom, I just want you to have a baby.’ I thought, ‘Sorry, honey, your mom is too old for that.'” she recalled.
At just 7 or 8 years old, Kingston began praying, “God, please let my mother have a baby.”
“I just sat there, amazed that my child was praying for me,” she said, noting he did this every night.
“I never asked him to do that. In fact, I hadn’t even taught him how,” Stefani explained. “Then, about four weeks later, I found out I was pregnant with Apollo. I had him at 44. It truly felt like a gift.”
“That was the first miracle,” added the 56-year-old singer.
When someone remarked, “You can either run from God or towards Him, and it seems you chose the latter,” Stefani replied, “I did. It’s not really how I’m wired.”
“I was in the dark before. I admit, I still have a lot to learn,” she shared. “But that realization can be overwhelming as you think, ‘Oh no, I need to get my act together. I want to be a real Christian. It’s a narrow path, what am I doing?’ You know?” she expressed.
Recently, she has taken to Instagram, where she has millions of followers, to promote her Catholic prayer app, Hallow, sharing messages of Jesus’s love and encouraging her fans to join her in prayer.
