U.S. Offers Reward for Information on Iranian Officials

The State Department has announced a $10 million reward for information regarding Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, along with several high-ranking officials linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

This initiative is part of the Rewards for Justice program, aimed at collecting information about the Revolutionary Guards, which the U.S. accuses of planning attacks on Americans and backing terrorist activities.

The targets named for the reward include Mojtaba Khamenei, who is the son of the deceased Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as significant figures in Iran’s security sector.

Additionally, the State Department is seeking information on Ali Asghar Hejazi, who serves as chief of staff in the Supreme Leader’s Office, and Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

The bounty program also covers notable members of Iran’s security and intelligence services, such as Yahya Rahim Safavi, the Supreme Leader’s military advisor, Esmail Khatib, Iran’s intelligence minister, and Eskandar Momeni, the interior minister.

According to the State Department, the IRGC plays a pivotal role in leveraging terrorism as a tool for Iran’s foreign policy. They have been implicated in numerous attacks targeting U.S. citizens and facilities, the department stated.

Since its formation post-Iran’s 1979 revolution, the Revolutionary Guards have broadened their influence, establishing a stronghold in Iran’s political and economic landscape.

The State Department remarked that the IRGC has evolved into a significant player affecting Iran’s foreign policy and now controls substantial parts of the nation’s economy, which in turn shapes domestic governance.

The Rewards for Justice program facilitates the U.S. government in offering financial incentives for information that can dismantle terrorist networks or pinpoint individuals linked to attacks on Americans.

Individuals who provide dependable information can qualify for the reward of up to $10 million.
