Chief of Staff Susie Wiles Diagnosed with Early-Stage Breast Cancer
Susie Wiles, the Chief of Staff at the White House, has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. President Donald Trump made this announcement on Monday, revealing that she intends to continue working nearly full-time while she undergoes treatment.
In a message on Truth Social, President Trump described Wiles as a remarkable chief of staff and a strong individual. He acknowledged her decision to confront this challenge head-on rather than delaying treatment. “She has an excellent medical team, and the prognosis looks good,” he noted, expressing his gratitude that she will remain mostly at the White House during her treatment.
The president went on to commend her resilience and commitment, highlighting that her choice to stay involved while undergoing treatment speaks volumes about her character. Wiles is one of his closest advisors, dedicated to serving the American people, and Trump is confident she will recover fully.
Wiles shared that she was diagnosed last week and plans to start treatment soon. Echoing the president’s sentiments, she mentioned that the cancer was detected early, and she intends to maintain her work responsibilities during this time.
“Nearly 1 in 8 women in the United States will face this diagnosis,” she stated. “Every day, these women continue to feed their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. Now I join them.”
Wiles expressed gratitude for her medical team, who diagnosed her early, and reassured that her prognosis is optimistic. She also appreciated the ongoing support from President Trump as she navigates this challenge.
Wiles, dressed in a pink blazer, appeared alongside the president at a recent luncheon shortly after the announcement of her diagnosis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that approximately 270,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually in the United States.
Members of the administration took to social media to express their support and prayers for Wiles. White House press secretary Caroline Levitt praised her as a strong leader and shared that everyone in the White House is rooting for her as she prepares to confront breast cancer.
Vice President J.D. Vance also expressed his family’s prayers for Wiles in this tough time.
