Laundry Chair Offers a Unique Solution to Clothing Storage

Seating technology might have hit a high point for those of us who find it challenging to keep our piles of lightly used clothes off furniture. The Laundry Chair—created by YouTuber and inventive mind Simone Giertz—is now available for purchase through a Kickstarter campaign, providing a clever storage option that can still serve as a seat even when covered in clothes that are perhaps too clean for the wash yet not quite clean enough to be stored away.

The Laundry Chair, priced at $1,100, features a rotating rail that spins around the seat thanks to a ball-bearing Lazy Susan, making it easy to drape laundry over without blocking the armrests or seating area. Constructed with a sturdy hardwood frame, it also comes in green cotton corduroy, with another color likely to be introduced later. Early backers can snag discounts of up to $200, with deliveries estimated for November 2026.

This project began as a prototype Giertz created for a YouTube video back in 2024 before she decided to bring it to market under her Yetch brand. “I made the Laundry Chair because I was tired of staring at my pile of half-dirty clothes,” Giertz shared in a press release. “So I thought, why not create a chair built for that purpose?”

The sliding rail serves multiple functions. It not only allows for easier stacking of clothes but also helps partially hide that messy view behind the chair while providing better airflow for the semi-worn fabrics, which can reduce moisture, wrinkles, and odors. Giertz has dabbled in other rotating furniture designs as well, like a coffee table that doubles as an ottoman and has previously designed foldable clothes hangers for her Yetch store.

The Kickstarter campaign for the Laundry Chair states, “No piles. No unusable chairs. No pretending you’ll deal with it later.” It emphasizes that it’s not necessarily about doing more laundry, pointing out that washing clothes after each wear can actually shorten their lifespan. Many items don’t need a full wash; they just require some air.

In my view, the price for the Laundry Chair seems fair for a custom piece of furniture, even if the color choices are currently limited. Yes, I could buy a standard clothes rack to manage the messy pile next to my bed for much less money, but finding one that doesn’t look terrible has proven challenging. Plus, it feels so natural to toss clothing onto a chair, so why change habits now?
