Arrest Made in Connection with Long-Missing Woman

A suspect has been taken into custody after leading authorities to a body buried beneath a garage in Massachusetts. This individual is believed to have known a woman who has been missing for over a year.

Sean Sullivan, age 40, has been arrested following an alleged confession to a friend, claiming he shot and buried a woman named “Jill” around January 2025. This timeline aligns with when Jill Kloppenburg was last seen, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Using ground-penetrating radar, police found something buried in the two-car garage of Sullivan’s family home in Chingsboro, situated about 45 miles north of Boston.

After excavating the area, authorities discovered human remains wrapped in a plastic bag.

While the identity of the remains has not yet been confirmed as Kloppenburg’s, police are hopeful that this discovery will provide closure to her family. An uncle has stated that investigators are “100% sure” that it is her.

Sullivan faces multiple charges, including murder, assault, and improper disposal of a body. He was reportedly friends with Kloppenburg, who was allegedly at home with him when she disappeared.

Kloppenburg, 47, was last seen exiting her residence in Lowell, Massachusetts, on January 2, 2025, and her absence was reported to the Tewkesbury Police in February 2025. Friends mentioned they hadn’t seen her since August 2024 and hadn’t been in contact with her by phone since November 2024. Her final phone activity occurred on January 14, 2025.

Friends who had been searching for Kloppenburg expressed shock upon hearing news of her apparent fate. One friend, Anne Matrosz, shared her devastation, questioning the suspect’s actions and suggesting that abandoning someone in such a manner is horrifying.

Kloppenburg’s uncle, Stephen, mentioned on Facebook that investigators had assured him of their confidence in the identification of the remains but emphasized the need for DNA testing and an autopsy for confirmation.

He reflected on the long wait, saying, “She has been missing for 14 months and has probably been out the whole time.” The family expressed their desire to shift focus toward justice and healing.
