Hannity Apologizes to Senator Fetterman
During an interview on Tuesday, Fox News host Sean Hannity offered an apology to Democratic Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania.
Fetterman has faced criticism from some left-leaning Democrats for opposing measures aimed at blocking a funding bill, backing Operation Epic Fury, defending the Trump administration’s stance on suspected drug traffickers, and supporting Israel. Hannity, in an episode of “Hangout with Sean Hannity,” acknowledged that he had completely misinterpreted Fetterman’s comments.
“The untold story is, I walked up to you and said, ‘Senator, it’s nice to meet you.’ I said, ‘You should hate me; I’m the worst human being,’ and I don’t know if you remember that part,” Hannity recounted. “I said that because by then I was beginning to realize that I was wrong about you. Everything I believed, everything I thought about you, and everything I really believed, was wrong.”
Fetterman, who won the Senate seat in November 2022 by defeating Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz, accepted the apology graciously.
“That’s the truth today,” Fetterman remarked. “And when we have a chance to actually sit down and have a conversation, I always dedicate myself to that, but I’m not holding a grudge; I’m just having a conversation.”
He later mentioned that he had met Dr. Oz, who leads Medicare and Medicaid Services, at a book signing for Bret Baier of Fox News and added that Dr. Oz, a former daytime talk show host and heart surgeon, would be performing the surgery.
Fetterman had a stroke in May 2022, and his campaign came under fire for allegedly misleading voters regarding his health during the final weeks of the election. He was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in February 2023 for inpatient treatment for depression.
