Joe Kent Reportedly Being Investigated by the FBI

FBI Investigation into Joe Kent

The FBI has initiated an investigation into Joe Kent, the former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, amid allegations of leaking classified information. Reports indicate that this inquiry began prior to Kent’s departure from his role.

According to multiple sources, the focus of the investigation is to determine whether Kent shared confidential information with unauthorized individuals. The White House, FBI, and Director of National Intelligence have not provided any immediate comments regarding this matter.

Kent resigned on Tuesday, claiming that a “misinformation campaign” was responsible for the war in Iran. He took to social media the day before a House Intelligence Committee hearing led by Tulsi Gabbard, asserting that Iran does not pose a threat to the U.S. and accusing Israel of influencing U.S. involvement in the conflict.

“I can’t support the ongoing war in Iran,” Kent stated. “Iran poses no imminent threat to our country. It is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful U.S. lobby.”

Hours after Kent’s resignation, Gabbard issued a statement emphasizing the President’s role in determining national security threats. “Donald Trump was elected President and Commander-in-Chief by an overwhelming majority of the American people. He has the responsibility to make decisions regarding the safety of our military and our nation,” she noted.

President Trump also responded to Kent’s resignation, particularly in light of Kent’s remarks about the Iran conflict during a Q&A session. Trump defended his administration’s military actions, expressing that intervention was justified. “I always thought he was a nice guy… but when I read his statement, it became clear it was best for him to step aside. Iran is a threat—every country understands this,” Trump stated.
