A nursing student in Chicago, Yannisee Miles, recently faced a harrowing situation when she returned home to find three suspected squatters inside her apartment. It was around 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday when she discovered two strangers lying naked on her bed.
This alarming incident follows a prior scare when she received a call at work about someone breaking into her apartment. So, naturally, upon arriving home, she was shocked to find the alleged squatters had returned, with two people seemingly at ease in her bedroom.
“They were naked in my bed,” she recounted, reflecting on the invasion of privacy. After discovering the intruders, she contacted the authorities, which resulted in a 46-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man being taken in on misdemeanor trespassing charges.
Footage captured on Miles’ phone revealed the moment she confronted the intruders while police attempted to remove them from her home. This incident has raised some concerns, especially since it occurred as she was in the process of moving out due to a prior break-in.
In light of this incident, the building was boarded up to deter future intrusions, but it raises questions about safety protocols in apartment complexes, as Miles expressed concern for her family’s safety. “Honestly, I’m traumatized,” she admitted. “I really pray, and prayer helped me get through everything.”
In a surprising turn of events, local comedian Dion Brooks, referred to as “Mojo Brooks,” reached out to help Miles get back on her feet after hearing her story. He expressed shock at her situation and felt compelled to give back to the community that once supported him.
While the property management company has not responded to queries regarding the incident, it highlights the ongoing struggle many face regarding safety and security in urban environments.
